10. Who are the team that are guiding this process?

1. Have the leadership already decided we are building the Crossing?

No. No decision has been made or will be made exclusively by the Leadership. This is a Church wide decision and the church will be asked to make that decision when we are in possession of as many of the facts as possible.

2. When will the decision be made?

The church will be asked to make 2 Go/ No Go decisions. The first will be in late March / early April 2010. This will be the decision whether to commit to the Concept Planning Stage and its associated costs or not. The second decision (whether to commence the Project and commit to it’s associated costs) would then come 3-4 months later.

3. How much has the church spent already?

Only the purchase of 30 & 44 Kaurilands Rd properties. The Scoping Project has been fully funded from an external source.

4. What was the purpose of the Scoping Project?

The scoping Project has been tasked with providing the following information.
A clearly articulated vision - (What are we wanting to achieve and why)
A possible operational model - (How will it operate, including funding, staffing, ownership.)
What will it do, accommodate etc. (How will you interface with it.)
    What could it look like?
    What approximately will it cost?
Can we afford it? If so, how?
All of this information is required to inform the eventual GO/NO GO Decisions that the church will be required to make.

5. What further chance is there to dialogue about the future of the Crossing?

The second round of consultations and forums has commenced. These were planned to take place after the original (dream gathering) consultations when the answers to the above questions were being formed. A series of descriptive articles will be released shortly. Watch the TBC web site (and Facebook). Team members are available to dialogue with any group. We would encourage particularly Home Groups to take up this offer.

6. Are we going to build the concept plans that we have already?

The current drawings are only very preliminary concept sketches, designed primarily to help us gauge some idea of cost and match requirements to space available. Also, they are essentially only a possible floor (layout) plan. Any discussion of quality and type of building and its fit out is still to be had.

7. Are we looking at building a palace?

Not at all! There is no thought of building a palace, but there is intention to build a sensible, usable, robust, quality building that will be very functional, fit into its surroundings well, and be used to advance God’s Kingdom in the valley.

8. Why do we need more space to do community ministry, won't a lick of paint solve our problems?

It is very true that our current buildings were built for the purpose of building God’s Kingdom in the valley and have served in that capacity for well over 50 years. It is also true that they are very close to the end of their service life. For example.
Ministry is limited to one function at a time,
Staff regularly have to vacate the building in order to get work done.
The buildings are cold, dark, leaking, and in some parts degraded. (eg Toilets needing an $1800 repair.)
The Leadership believe that the buildings are not inviting to the community.
More importantly though is the fact that our missional requirements have changed as has the community over that time.

9. How can I get involved in the planning if I want to?

Put your hand up. Talk to one of the Team members. There will be plenty of opportunity to be directly involved as/if the project moves from scoping to building
